Raider’s Pride!!

3A and 3R

As we roll into June, another year is quickly coming to an end and we have been busy at PRJH.

Academically, we are wrapping up our courses and preparing for finals. The format is changing this year so that finals are written in two parts. We hope this allows students to better demonstrate what they have really learned. Ms. Richards, Brayley Emter and Amara Drefs had a fantastic time in Ottawa at the National Science Fair, where the girls presented their award winning project. Social Fair was new to our school this year and it was a huge success. Well done SS teachers! In the Arts, we are really gaining momentum. PRJH Talent Show continues to grow and all enjoyed a May afternoon watching our talented students perform. Wow, you guys were great.  Our annual Community Band Concert was held and although our numbers were low, they gave an excellent performance. June 11, we look forward to our first Drama production in a number of years. It is a 2 act play entitled, Break a Leg, that was written and is being directed by PRJH teacher, Michael Olsen. Our Athletics season has drawn to a close. Badminton was a huge success with the largest team that we’ve had in recent history. They played a number of tournaments and placed second in Divisionals. Track is always a school favorite and we again won the Divisional banner! Our school track day was held on the hottest day of the year so far, but extra tents provided shade and lots of water was available. It was a ton of fun!

As is often the case, we have some staff moving on. Best of luck to Ms. Richards, Mr. Olsen, Mrs. MacLean and Mr. Tucker as they move to new destinations to pursue their careers. Thank you for the time and effort that you have given the students and parents of PRJH.

In closing, as many of you know, I am retiring at the end of June. I would like to thank you for the support that you have given in my 13 years at PRJH. They have been a great part of my 33 year career and I do look forward to continuing to see you around the High Prairie area!
