Principal Message May/June 2019

June is finally here!!!

Our Handgames team finished first in the HPE tournament, 2nd at the HP Pow Wow and are going to Atikameg on June 7th for another tournament.  Thank you Cheyenne Simms for coaching them.

Congratulations to students who have been on the honour roll this year.

PRJH Track meet organized by Kelly Carlson had our students showing their athleticism and sportsmanship but all good things come to an end. Track season finished with zones in Grande Prairie. Thank you to Troy Runzer, Crystal Hopps and AJ Dominguez who ran the practices and had our athletes performing to their best ability.

The Grade 8 Camp trip to Yowochas was a big success.  Thank you to Karissa Jackman, Kyle Schroeder, Kyla Rae, Verna Isaac, Cody Quevillion , Blake Pratt, Trent Lizee and Keitlyn Williams for supervising our kids.

The annual talent show was a huge hit.  PRJH Raiders are very talented. Thank you to Alysia Sharpe and Crystal Hopps for organizing this as well.

On top of all this I would also like to thank all the staff for their support of our Raiders this year.  We have had success in Volleyball, Basketball, Curling, Archery, Badminton, Hand games and Track and Field.  The Raider Science Fair and the Regional Science Fair had PRJH Raiders showing strong science skills and knowledge.  Congratulations to the two students who medalled in Peace River. There was a fine Arts Trip to see the Musical Come From Away.  Decals were put in the halls to promote our 3R’s and 3A’s and we changed our monthly assembly to the Raider Awards. A Raider Winter fest was held, a talent show and Zero Gravity was formed!

June 21 we will be celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day with activities planned for the school to participate in with a BBQ lunch in JayCee Park.

June is exam season.  Provincial Achievement tests for Grade 9’s start on June 10 and run every morning until June 14th.  The grade 9’s will be going paintballing the afternoon of June 14th.

The rest of the students will have their exams on June 24 and 25th with the 26th being the last day for students for this school year.  Please see the schedule posted on our school website.

Library books are due no later than June 14th.

As with any end of the year we need to say goodbye to some staff.  Thank you and best of luck to Eugene Sano, Crystal Hopps, Alysia Sharpe and Troy Runzer.  Thank you to the parents for the support this year.

Coming to our school is Kienan Wilson who will be the new VP, Michael Gouge our new music teacher, and Brad Corless Social Studies teacher.

Students: Have a restful summer.  To those moving on to another school Good luck to you.

See you in September.
