Principal’s Message

October 2018

Hello, Tansi and Happy October!   It is hard to believe the first month of school is over.

The PRJH Raider volleyball teams have travelled to their first tournaments.  Our A teams coached by Mrs.Jackman and Mr. Schroeder went to Peace River. Both teams played very well and the boys moved into the semi round.  The girls placed strong winning their first game of the season.

The girls B team, coached by Ms.Sharpe travelled to Slave Lake .  The team made some good serves and hits at the net.

The home tournament is scheduled for October 12-13 weekend.  Hope to see you there supporting the kids.

The monthly awards assembly was held on Sept 27th.  At this assembly we had a presentation on the importance of Orange Shirt day as well as a Terry Fox inspirational video.  Later that day PRJH, HPE and EW Pratt all joined together with some community members for their annual Terry Fox walk.  PRJH raised almost $400 for cancer research.

At our staff meeting we discussed changing the name of our student award so I am pleased to announce our monthly awards are now going to be called the Raider Award and we will be honoring students who represent our 3 R’s: respect, responsibility, reliability and our 3 A’s: arts, academics and athletics.  Perfect attendance for the month of September will also be recognized in the next assembly and those students will receive a movie pass for our theatre in High Prairie.

On October 11th, 2018 PRJH is having their first Progress Report available for parents to pick up and at 4:30 pm -6:30 pm it is Parent Teacher Interviews evening. No appointments are necessary.  I look forward to seeing many parents here and to meeting more of you.

The grade 9 class have had an opportunity to travel to EW Pratt for a career fair. Different Post Secondary Institutions were there to answer questions and pass out information on the programs they offer.  They are also participating in the Take Your Kid To Work day.  If you are a parent of a grade 9 students, make sure you have signed them(and yourself) up for this great opportunity.

Have a great October everyone!

Go Raiders!!
