The Canadian Welding Association Foundation and Northern Lakes Collegepresented Prairie River Junior High School student Waylon Lauck with everything he needs to continue his passion of welding. The CWA received a letter from Lauck's mother after Waylon attended the Mind Over Metal welding workshop this summer at Northern Lakes College. This was a free camp for youths to experience the trade and learn more about the opportunities around becoming a welder. Waylon came home with a new-found love of welding and began saving to buy his own welder and supplies. The CWA heard Waylon's story and, in partnership with Lincoln Electric, presented Waylon with a welder and all the supplies he would need to continue developing his skill.

NLC President and CEO Ann Everatt presented Waylon with a scholarship to cover the remainder of his tuition for his welding ticket. Everatt stated that he would be able to take his first-period and possibly his second-period training through dual credits at the new NLC campus with a trades facility in High Prairie.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this happen. Specials thanks to Waylon and his family, we are so proud of you! Our team of dedicated professionals work tirelessly to prepare students for the world of work and this is but one example of their efforts. Thank you for continuing to offer our students with world-class opportunities!
